Linux Professional Institute (LPI) is long-standing certification partner of LinuxTag. Visitors to LinuxTag can take LPI examinations in Berlin on highly concessional terms.

New: Under the slogan "Linux and Open Source from the beginning" LPI will present its latest program "Linux Essentials" in LinuxTag-Lounge (hall 7.2a).

Linux Essentials "beta" exams: Call for Volunteers

The Linux Professional Institute - Central Europe issued a call for volunteers to participate in the first "beta" exams for the Linux Professionals Institute's "Linux Essentials" program during LinuxTag.

“Linux Essentials” is an innovative new program measuring foundational knowledge in Linux and Open Source Software and will be publicly released in June 2012. "Beta" exams are offered free to volunteers who wish to assist LPI in its exam development process for the "Linux Essentials" program.

During LinuxTag there will be eight different sessions for volunteers to take "beta" exams which are offered free of charge. All interested individuals who do not hold an existing Linux certification are invited to participate--however seating is limited to ten per session.

Successful candidates who pass the exam will be awarded a "Linux Essentials Certificate of Achievement". Alternatively candidates may choose to have their exam results deleted from their registration record. Volunteer participants in the "beta" exams during LinuxTag will also be eligible for special prizes (TBA).

To participate exam volunteers must obtain an LPI ID at https://cs.lpi.org/caf/Xamman/register and register in advance for the Linux Essentials "beta" exam at http://lpievent.lpice.eu "

"Beta" exams will be available at the LPI exam room "Regensburg" at hall 4.1 during LinuxTag at the following times: Thursday, May 24th, Friday, May 25th at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and on Saturday, May 26th at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m.

Exam preparation sessions for the Linux Essentials "beta" exam will be offered on the first day of LinuxTag, May 23, 2012 in LPI exam room "Regensburg", Hall 4.1.
Participation is voluntary but seating is limited.  Please register in advance by sending an email with the title "Exam preparation session for the Linux Essentials Beta" to info@lpice.eu and include your name and LPI ID.

LPI invites all interested trainers to submit a proposal for this Linux Essentials exam preparation session.  Proposals should include a detailed description for a three hour exam preparation session and may be submitted to info@lpice.eu until May 3, 2012.

Targeted at new technology users, the “Linux Essentials” program is set to be adopted by schools, educational authorities, training centers and others commencing June 2012.  For more information on this program please see:

LPI-Certification

Linux Professional Institute (LPI) will offer all its available examinations at LinuxTag 2012 in Berlin: 

LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 (101, 102, 201, 202) - in German and in English
LPIC-3 (301, 302, 303, 304) - in English
Univention Certified Professional Prüfung (LPI 198) - in German

Dates

The examinations take place on Thursday, May 24th, Friday, May 25th at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and on Saturday, May 26th at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m.

The examination room will be marked. Meeting Point will announced on time.

Terms of payment and registration

All participation charges have to be paid cash in run-up to the examination. Participants have to show a valid photo ID and a valid LPI Identification Number before examination starts. You can apply for the LPI Identification Number online on: https://cs.lpi.org/caf/Xamman/register.

Due to the fact that the places for the LPI examinations are limited, it is strongly recommended to register in advance. Register soon at http://lpievent.lpice.eu.

TYPO3-certification

At LinuxTag it is possible to take the official certification from the TYPO3 Assocation to become a TYPO3 Certified Integrator. This allows to objectively judge the skills of web agencies and free consultants in the TYPO3-world in respect of daily daily tasks.

Certification takes place on Thursday, May 24th at 10am, allows 90 minutes to complete and will be held in English.
