What's new in Dovecot?
von Timo Sirainen (Dovecot)
Thursday, 24.05.2012, Europa I, 14:00-14:45 Uhr
The first part of the presentation will cover new features in Dovecot v2.1 like the IMAP adaptor, statistics gathering, full text search changes, and many more.
The second part will give an outlook on the upcoming dsync-based replication feature, which can be added on top of Dovecot v2.1. The replication works asynchronously, although synchronous replication of newly saved mails is optional. Preferably a user shouldn't access his/her mails from more than one replica at the same time, but even if this happens there is no data loss. Any conflicts are intelligently resolved.
Über den Autor Timo Sirainen:
Timo Sirainen is a Finnish software developer who has worked on several open source projects for the past 10 years. He is the original author of the Irssi IRC client and the Dovecot IMAP/POP3 server. He has spent the last 5 years working full time on the Dovecot project for many different companies, mostly at home, but also spending a year in USA and half a year in Portugal.
After working on software for 7 years, Timo decided to see if studying biotechnology was any fun. After the initial excitement, he finally decided after 3 years that memorizing tens of different metabolism paths for amino acids, lipids and other tiny things wasn't all that fun after all. Eventually biotechnology became a minor subject for his B.Sc. on computer science. His quest for M.Sc. still continues, probably for many more years.
Timo has previously given a talk about Dovecot on "The 4th mail server conference" (2009 in Berlin), MacSysAdmin 2009, Codebits 2010 and various other private company events.
